Pet Wellness Services
Wellness Exams
Your pet benefits greatly from regular wellness examinations. At The Yancey Clinic of Veterinary Medicine, we recommend that all pets receive a complete physical examination at least once a year, though more frequent exams are encouraged.
Regular exams allow us to detect symptoms of disease and illness in your pet and treat them before your pet's quality of life is affected. During an exam, we perform a "nose to tail" evaluation of your pet. We examine his or her vision, hearing, heart and lung functions, test the joints and muscles, palpate the abdomen, along with many other tests. The information we collect during an exam helps us establish a baseline level of your pet's health and allows us to better treat your pet.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are the cornerstone of your pet's preventive health care plan. Many diseases that once were fatal to pets can now easily be prevented through the use of modern vaccinations. Your pet is one-of-a-kind, and his or her vaccination requirements are just as unique. We work closely with you to develop a vaccination protocol for your pet that takes into account his or her lifestyle, environment, and other risk factors.
Veterinary Pharmacy
The Yancey Clinic of Veterinary Medicine maintains a fully-stocked veterinary pharmacy. We stock a wide variety of pet medications. When your pet needs a prescription, we are able to fill his or her prescription at your convenience.
Pet Identification - Microchipping
Does your pet have a microchip? Each year, millions of pets go missing and many don't make it back home. Microchipping your pet is a simple, effective way to prevent this tragedy. About the size and shape of a grain of rice, identification microchips are encoded with your pet's vital information and implanted beneath your pet's skin, usually between the shoulder blades. Veterinary hospitals and animal shelters across the country are equipped with special scanners capable of reading these microchips - if your pet is lost, the microchip is scanned and the information is used to reunite you and your pet. The Yancey Clinic of Veterinary Medicine uses the Home Again microchip system.
